Welcome to Glamdring

Glamdring is a new project to provide a web-based administration interface for the Our-ISP shared hosting project. In this new approach, configuration data for users, groups, DNS, mail, and most web servers will be held in a MySQL database, and Glamdring will be used to edit this database.

Glamdring, in its current state, is a fairly quick-and-dirty implementation, designed to get something going in a very brief period of time. It is expected that it will, in due course, be replaced by something better.

Glamdring is based on  Django, a Python-based web framework.

In case you've been wondering, the original Glamdring was Gandalf the Grey's sword in the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. We picked this name because we expect this piece of software to cut through some of the snags that we've been running into with our server's administration.
